Class Schedule

Classes are in person unless otherwise noted. Generally limited to 4 students for in-person classes, and 8 people for zoom class. To register for a class, please call (716) 839-7800 or e-mail at info@haveeweanywoolyarnshop.com.

Beginning Knitting

Dates: Wednesdays 4/20, 4/27, 5/4, 5/11

Time: 6:30 - 8:30 Fee: $75 Taught by: Trish

Learn the basics of knitting: how to cast on, knit, purl, and bind off. Use what you've learned to start a simple project like a scarf, cowl, fingerless mitts, or a pointy hat. Already have a project in mind? Bring it, and we'll see if it works.

Materials: 100 grams of worsted weight yarn and US 8 needles. You may want 200 grams if you want a longer scarf or cowl.

Beginning Crochet

Date: Thursdays 4/21, 4/28, 5/12 Time: 6:30 - 8:30 Fee: $45 Taught by Ben

You will learn how to chain, do single crochet, double crochet, and work on a simple project such as a scarf, cowl, fingerless mitts, or a hat. You may also bring a pattern that you have in mind, and we can see if it'll be a good start.

Materials: 100 grams of worsted weight yarn and a US H (5 mm) crochet hook. If you want to make a longer scarf or cowl, you may want 200 grams of yarn instead.

Cuello Gades

Dates: Thursdays 4/21, 4/28, 5/12 Time: 11:00 - 1:00

Fee: $45 Taught by: Ben

While this reversible, 2-color brioche cowl isn't for true beginners, it's not as difficult as you might think. You only work with one color each round, and the waves are made with increases and decreases.

Materials: 110 yards each of two colors of DK weight yarn. Sample used 1 ball of Alpaca Yarn Co Classic Alpaca (Solid) and half a hank of Alpaca Yarn Co Paca Paints (Variegated). US 7, 24" circular needles. Stitch markers are good to have too. Please come having already cast on and knit 4 rounds so we can jump right into the brioche stitch.

Dates: Mondays 4/25, 5/9, 5/16 Time: 11:00 - 1:00

Fee: $45 Taught by: Mary Ann

Learn to make socks one-at-a-time starting at the toe. Avoid pesky double points by using two circular needles. Toe-Up socks are good if you want to be able to use as much yarn as possible.

Materials: 100 grams sock yarn and two sets of circular needles around US 2. You might find using two different lengths (a 16" and a 24") or two different materials (one metal and one wooden) easier than two the same.

Dates: Mondays 4/25, 5/2, 5/9 Time: 12:00 - 2:00
Taught by: Trish Fee: $20 for one, $35 for two, $45 for all three sessions.

So you've learned how to knit, now what? Learn a few new techniques to further your repertoire. Learn how to do different increases and decreases (4/25) simple lace (5/2) and simple cables (5/9). Time: 11:00 - 1:00 Fee: $80 Taught by Ben

Maybe you've made dozens of sweaters and want to make another one with a group of other sweater knitters. Whatever your persuasion, I can help.

US 6, 24 or 32" and US 4, 16" circular needles OR size needed to give you a gauge of either 5.5 or 6 sts / inch and a needle two sizes smaller.
